Codesign is an important part of the project as it imply empowerment of participants and also interesting and fun architecture that suits the person who is going to live in the house. Egnahemfabriken started to develop the codesign approach in 2018 (see Create your own home, Stenberg 2020 [download][ladda ner]) and further developed it in a number of subsequent research projects. In November 2021, Egnahemsfabriken also got the chance to visit one of the biggest role models when it comes to codesign and cobuilding: Svartlamon in Trondheim. [download travelogue] [ladda ner reseberättelse] The form Egnahemsfabriken’s codeign method took in the youth project Together we build 2019–2021 has been further developed in this project into an efficient but still thorough codesign process where those who will live are the ones making decisions about the design. A compressed variant of the method was used for codesign of the community house, which was the first house designed by those who will live in the area.
